Linden Herbal Tea — Tilo — is a caffeine-free infusion brewed from the dried flowers and bracts of the linden tree (Tilia). The cup pours pale gold with a soft floral honey aroma and a naturally sweet, mellow finish. It is the classic evening tea of Latin households, served when the day winds down.
How to Brew
Steep one bag in 8 oz of water at 200–212°F for 5 to 7 minutes, covered to hold the delicate floral oils. A teaspoon of honey rounds it out beautifully; lemon adds brightness without overpowering.
When to Drink
Evening, after dinner, or any quiet moment of the day. Tilo is the traditional go-to cup for an unhurried pause, a nightcap before bed, or sipping through a busy afternoon.
Good alongside a piece of toast with butter, a slice of pound cake, or simply on its own in a quiet kitchen.
Traditional Use
In Cuba, Argentina, Mexico, and across Latin America, té de tilo is the household cup poured at the end of the day and on long evenings at the kitchen table. Abuelas brew it for children before exams and for adults after long days. The same flower has been steeped across Europe for centuries — tilleul in France, tiglio in Italy — usually after dinner with a small piece of chocolate.
