Mint Herbal Tea — Hierbabuena — is a clean, caffeine-free infusion of dried spearmint leaves. The cup is bright green-gold with a cooling finish that refreshes the palate. No sugar needed; the leaf carries its own natural sweetness.
How to Brew
Steep one bag in 8 oz of water at 200–212°F for 4 to 6 minutes, covered. For Moroccan-style mint tea, brew alongside green tea leaves and sweeten generously. For iced mint tea, double the strength and pour over ice with lime.
When to Drink
After meals — especially rich or spiced ones — to reset the palate. Also good mid-afternoon when coffee feels like too much, or in the evening when you want something warm and uncaffeinated.
Pairs naturally with lamb, couscous, baklava, flan, and dark chocolate.
Traditional Use
Hierbabuena is the backbone of Moroccan atay, the ceremonial mint tea poured from height into small glasses three times a day. In Cuban and Caribbean kitchens, mint tea is a familiar end-of-meal pour. Across the Middle East, it follows nearly every meal. In Mexico, té de hierbabuena is a household staple, brewed in kitchens at all hours.
